Chapter 1205: Volume 7: Across the Human World Chapter 1200: The Battle of Star Palace (Part 1)
After hearing the earlier words, Han Li’s heart finally settled a bit!
Evidently, Ling Yuling had summoned him using the Ten Thousand Miles Talisman for the purpose of dealing with the Master of the Myriad Gates of Enlightenment. Speaking of Wan Tianming, Han Li had seen this person before in the Star Palace.
This person had left a rather unpleasant impression on Han Li, the type with deep scheming. It had been surprising enough for Han Li when he learned that Wan Tianming had broken through to the late Nascent Soul stage.
The Heavenly Star Sages, who had perished alongside the Archsaint of the Six Paths and Wan Sangu, likely hadn’t anticipated these developments. Otherwise, by their plans, the Star Palace should have long defeated the Starfall Coalition by now, reinstating their rule over the Scattered Stars Sea, and wouldn’t have needed to invite Han Li to assist.
Nonetheless, Han Li truly didn’t take Wan Tianming seriously.
This great Sect Leader Wan had only advanced later than him. How could he possibly be a match for Han Li? At this point, with Han Li’s cultivation and mana further stabilized and his spiritual sense greatly enhanced, he could even barely defend himself against Deity Transformation cultivators.
Thinking this, Han Li’s thoughts quickly shifted towards the Divine Essencefused Light and the rumored Yuanci Mountain.
The cultivation incantation for the Divine Essencefused Light wasn’t particularly significant; it was said that this cultivation technique wasn’t a unique secret manual and that it had circulated within the Scattered Stars Sea. Even without the Star Palace’s help, Han Li could gather it with enough effort and cost.
But the Yuanci Mountain was a rare treasure of the human world–a miraculous object with no guarantee that a second one existed in the entire realm.
Although Han Li didn’t know if this mountain was indispensable for cultivating the Divine Essencefused Light, any high-level cultivator in the Scattered Stars Sea knew that the Heavenly Star Sages had only begun to cultivate this technique after discovering such a miraculous object. At the very least, the mountain greatly benefited the cultivation of the Divine Essencefused Light. Otherwise, though the technique had been circulating before the Heavenly Star Sages, no one had bothered to cultivate such a challenging method.
Pondering thus, Han Li nodded slightly towards the elderly man and the large man before him, briefly murmured a couple of polite phrases, and without much elaboration, his body suddenly flashed with a spiritual light, transforming into a streak of azure light that pierced through the air.
From start to finish, he had never bothered to ask the two about the reasons for their conflict or their affiliations.
The elderly man and the large man respectfully watched Han Li leave, their gazes fixed until the azure light vanished into the horizon. Only then did they simultaneously exhale deeply, before glaring at each other with renewed hostility.
However, due to Han Li’s interruption, the two had lost their will to continue fighting. After exchanging a few harsh words, they grudgingly left the area as well.
Meanwhile, Han Li had already traveled more than a hundred miles away.
…
On a vast sea tens of thousands of miles away from Heavenly Star City, over a dozen streaks of light shot directly toward the city.
The cultivators within the streaks of light varied in age, but their attire was uniformly identical, marking them as members of a single sect or aligned faction.
Perhaps due to their proximity to Heavenly Star City, the cultivators were visibly relaxed, with some even exchanging whispers via sound transmission.
At that moment, an unexpected change occurred!
Below them, the surface of the sea suddenly erupted with white light. Over a dozen misty-white beams shot upward, and amidst a thunderous rumble, all but three of the Core Formation cultivators, who managed to evade with a flash of their figures, were struck by the beams.
In an instant, anguished screams rang out, and those unfortunate enough to be hit dissolved into nothingness within the white light.
Of the three surviving late Core Formation cultivators, their faces contorted in shock and rage as they hastily summoned their Daoist paper talismans and peered downward.
No more beams emerged from the sea below, but suddenly, seven or eight streaks of light shot upward from its surface. After circling for a moment, they enclosed the three cultivators entirely.
“Starfall Coalition lackeys!”
Among the surviving cultivators, an elderly man with gray hair and beard seemed to recognize someone among the attackers. He roared out venomously in fury.
“Hehe, I wondered who would eagerly rush here to aid the Star Palace. Isn’t this Brother Lu from the Bai Shui Sword Sect? Your sect has always claimed neutrality, avoiding conflicts. So what brings you away from Changli Island and to this place now?” One of the streaks of light dimmed to reveal a sinister-looking middle-aged man who glanced at the elderly cultivator mockingly.
“Hmph, you know very well, so why bother with this pretentious act? Our Bai Shui Sword Sect is an offshoot of the Star Palace’s lineage. Now that the palace faces catastrophic danger, it’s only natural for us to come to their aid. Enough talk–we depart!” The elderly man glared daggers at the sinister middle-aged man for a moment before abruptly addressing the two other Core Formation cultivators beside him.
With a flash of their forms, the three transformed into streaks of light, darting rapidly in a specific direction. Mid-flight, the streaks merged into a three-colored rainbow–a dazzling blend of red, yellow, and white–hurtling fiercely toward the Starfall Coalition cultivators blocking their path.
The elderly man clearly understood that their combined strength was far from enough to deal with their enemies, who outnumbered them several-fold. Thus, he decisively chose to break through and escape!
The two Starfall Coalition cultivators blocking their path, upon seeing the imposing rainbow’s momentum, remained unfazed. After exchanging glances, both raised their hands simultaneously.
A vast misty-green radiance shot forth from their hands without warning, catching the three-colored rainbow off guard and enveloping it entirely.
The two then muttered further incantations under their breath. The green light flickered, revealing its true form–a massive green silk net that trapped the three cultivators completely. Despite their furious attacks with swords and talismans, the net remained unyielding.
“Haha, Brother Lu, give up your futile struggles. This Qiankun Net was bestowed by our sect’s elder. With your Core Formation cultivation, you don’t stand a chance against it. Besides, even if you could somehow escape, it would be pointless. Heavenly Star City is already under our coalition’s siege, and its fall is merely a matter of time. Let me send the trio on your way ahead!”
The sinister middle-aged man laughed heartily, then opened his mouth to spew out a small white sword, which he activated to strike down the trapped trio.
“Oh? Judging by your words, it seems Heavenly Star City has been under siege for some time now. Care to explain further?” A peculiar male voice suddenly echoed eerily from nearby, crystal clear to everyone present.
“Who’s lurking around here?” The sinister middle-aged man felt a jolt of panic and began scanning his surroundings vigilantly, his face marked by deep wariness.
The other Starfall Coalition cultivators likewise extended their spiritual senses, similarly searching the vicinity, their demeanor akin to facing an impending threat.
Yet the area remained utterly empty; no signs of another person could be seen. After failing to locate anyone, they exchanged confused glances.
“What are you searching for? I’m right here before you.” The unknown man’s voice chuckled coldly. Following that, green light flickered above the trapped Bai Shui Sword Sect cultivators, and a figure materialized out of thin air.
It turned out to be a twenty-something youth clad in a green robe, who gazed at the group with an impassive expression.
“Not good, a Nascent Soul cultivator?” Two of the Starfall Coalition cultivators closest to the youth scanned him with their spiritual senses and immediately exclaimed in alarm.
Although they couldn’t discern Han Li’s exact cultivation level, they were certain he was a Nascent Soul expert.
The sinister middle-aged man at the forefront also reacted with trepidation upon hearing this. He scrutinized the youth closely, only for his face to immediately reveal an expression of utter shock. Without uttering a word, he made a series of hand gestures and transformed into a streak of white light, fleeing rapidly into the distance–covering tens of meters within mere seconds.
This unexpected development momentarily stunned not only Han Li but also the other Starfall Coalition cultivators, who were left dumbfounded.
To face a Nascent Soul expert, even with their numbers of Core Formation cultivators, wouldn’t have been a futile endeavor. Moreover, the middle-aged man had reached the peak of late Core Formation, yet he fled precipitously without even verifying the youth’s allegiances.
“You know who I am?”
The youth, who was none other than Han Li, had traveled non-stop for over a month before arriving at this location.
His face now darkened, and with a casual flick of his fingers toward the retreating figure in the distance…
“Puchi”–a crimson line streaked silently across the air!
As the line flickered, it vanished abruptly, only for a spawn of flames to erupt from within the streak of white light that carried the fleeing middle-aged man. With a scream, the man transformed into a fiery human-shaped projectile that plummeted straight into the sea, disappearing without a trace.
Han Li extended his hand indifferently, and with a sharp whistle of sound, the crimson line reappeared from thin air, returning swiftly to his palm, where it vanished once more.
Han Li swept his gaze across the remaining cultivators, asking coldly:
“Now, are you willing to answer my questions?”
Even though Han Li’s voice was low, it sent chills down the spines of the remaining Starfall Coalition cultivators.
By now, they thoroughly understood why the middle-aged man had fled without warning.
The young man before them possessed unfathomable abilities. Together, their chances stood abysmally low. Most troubling of all, he appeared deeply hostile toward the Starfall Coalition!
Yet, with the middle-aged man’s grisly end as a precedent, the rest dared not act rashly despite trembling legs.
“If Senior has a question, we juniors will be glad to answer,” one burly man with a hooked nose stammered, forcing an uneasy smile.
“What question? Didn’t I already say it once? Or do you wish for me to repeat it?” Han Li’s eyes flashed coldly as he glared at the man.
The burly man’s heart skipped a beat, his uneasy smile freezing further. Yet, he hastened to respond:
“We understand, Senior. The Star Palace has indeed been surrounded by our coalition forces. Otherwise, we wouldn’t dare appear so close to their territory.”
“Oh, so the Starfall Coalition has planned this well–deliberately advancing their attack schedule to catch the Star Palace off guard, while also eliminating loyal supporters of the palace in one stroke,” Han Li sneered, half-mockingly.
“Th-this we are not aware of, Senior. We juniors possess only limited cultivation; we act merely according to orders,” the burly man stammered, trying to placate.
“Even if the Starfall Coalition has gained the upper hand, Heavenly Star City is such a vast place. Could you truly surround it entirely, even with tens of thousands of cultivators?” Han Li’s gaze flickered, pressing further.
