Chapter 1190: Volume 7: Across the Human World, Chapter 1186: Assimilation
Even with a large amount of medicinal pills for assistance, coalescing a Nascent Soul is still a matter of chance. The likelihood of Mu Peiling successfully forming her Nascent Soul is truly not high.
Upon hearing Han Li’s words, Mu Peiling was slightly stunned, her red lips parted as if she wanted to say something more. But Han Li waved his hand and interrupted her:
“Alright, I haven’t asked you to make a decision immediately. You can take a few more years to think about it. Right now, I need to go into seclusion for a while. During this period, I’ll give you some medicinal pills to try and break through the intermediate realm, and you can help guide Tian Qin’er in her foundation cultivation techniques on my behalf.”
“Yes, I will obey your orders, Young Master!” Mu Peiling was still a bit reluctant, but when Han Li’s tone became stern, she could only comply somewhat helplessly.
Han Li nodded, handed over some medicinal pills to her, and after instructing Tian Qin’er a few more words, he allowed the two women to leave the cave abode.
When the hall was left empty, Han Li slowly closed his eyes, sighing lightly once more. It seemed his state of mind was somewhat disturbed.
He sat quietly in the hall for a full quarter of an hour before reopening his eyes, his gaze now calm, seeming to have regained his initial composure.
Suddenly, he slapped his hand on his waist and immediately, a flurry of silver light flickered in front of him, and a Humanoid Puppet eerily appeared, standing motionless in front of him.
Han Li examined the Humanoid Puppet, his spiritual sense stirred and suddenly a layer of silver light emerged on the puppet’s face. The facial features of what was originally a middle-aged man blurred, and when the silver light cleared again, the features had transformed into a likeness virtually identical to Han Li’s own, as though it was Han Li himself.
And almost simultaneously, the body of the Humanoid Puppet trembled silently and grew a few inches taller, its stature now exactly matching that of Han Li.
Han Li looked over the puppet a few more times, satisfied, he waved his hand at it.
The Humanoid Puppet, expressionless, flickered and disappeared within the silver light, making it impossible to discern where it had hidden.
Han Li then lowered his head in thought for a moment, stood up, and strode out of the hall, heading straight for the secret chamber within the cave abode.
But halfway there, he suddenly spoke without any prior indication:
“My second Nascent Soul in the cauldron has been behaving, right? It hasn’t caused any trouble for Fellow Daoist, has it?”
“Hehe, a mere mid-stage Nascent Soul without a body, what trouble could it give to this old man. It’s just that with another fellow inside, the cauldron feels a bit cramped.”
The aged voice of the child came from within his sleeve, which Han Li had somehow managed to place the Heavenvoid Cauldron into without anyone noticing.
“Tian Lan Daoist, please bear with it for a little longer. I’ll reintegrate the second Nascent Soul back, and take it back. Then you won’t have those worries anymore. Once this is done, I will aid Daoist in passing the Metamorphosis Tribulation to shape a human form. You don’t have any objections, do you?”
“Fellow Daoist Han still remembers this matter, how could I possibly have any other thoughts,” replied the Heaventide Holy Beast happily to Han Li’s words.
Han Li smiled faintly, no longer saying anything more to the Heaventide Holy Beast, his figure already flashed into the secret chamber.
The stone door behind him closed silently.
Han Li walked to the middle of the secret chamber without a word, and with a flick of his sleeve.
A beam of green light shot out, circling around before transforming into a hovering green cauldron in front of him.
With a flash of green light on the cauldron, the child’s blurred figure appeared, sitting cheerfully on the lid, looking like he was ready to enjoy a good show.
Han Li’s expression unchanged, as if unconcerned with the child’s presence, struck his storage pouch with one hand, causing a stack of formation flags to appear suddenly.
With a throw of his hand, over a dozen formation flags flashed and flew towards the surroundings of the secret chamber. Consequently, a faint yellow light screen, barely visible, emerged, enclosing the secret chamber.
Han Li then emotionlessly formed an incantation with both hands and pointed lightly towards the Heavenvoid Cauldron in front of him.
With a ‘whoosh’, the cauldron lid shot up, soaring into the air.
But the child had quickly moved to one side, his smile unchanged as he watched the small cauldron intently.
Aside from a rumbling humming sound coming from the cauldron, no anomalies occurred.
Han Li’s expression darkened, and as he uttered a spell incantation, he struck the cauldron with an incantation.
Immediately, the Heavenvoid Cauldron trembled slightly, autorelease.
Han Li saw this scene, and with narrowed eyes, he promptly reached out with one hand into the void.
Several shimmering silver needles instantly appeared between his fingers. He coldly glanced at the Nascent Soul in the air and flicked his wrist.
The silver threads vanished in a flash, disappearing from sight.
The originally unconscious Nascent Soul suddenly flashed with a black light and eerily vanished from its spot.
The silver threads naturally missed, striking nothing but empty space.
But Han Li was not panicked; instead, a cold smile formed on his lips as he pointed at the Sky Piercing Cauldron.
A burst of green silk suddenly shot out from a corner of the secret chamber.
Amidst a great burst of green light, it enveloped a certain area of the void below.
A muffled groan was heard; amid the flickering green silk, the black-green Nascent Soul reappeared, but this time, its limbs and neck were tightly bound by the green silk, rendering it completely immobile.
Meanwhile, those silver threads that had missed their mark earlier circled back from a distance and flew back.
With several “pfft” sounds, those missed silver threads circled and shot back, quickly entering various parts of the Nascent Soul’s body. The Nascent Soul trembled, and its mana lost control, unable to be mobilized.
The second Nascent Soul’s face immediately showed a look of despair.
“Stop harboring any hopes of escape. All your schemes are replicas of my past self; how could I possibly give you any opportunities? I don’t intend to eradicate your existence, just to assimilate with you once more, so why stubbornly resist?” Han Li spoke calmly, as if he were talking to a close friend.
“What do you mean you won’t eradicate my existence? Without my own consciousness, will I still be myself? How is that different from being wiped from this world?” Bound by the restrictions, the second Nascent Soul knew it couldn’t escape this calamity and simply gave up struggling. Yet, it shouted resentfully at Han Li.
“True, but you were originally just my second Nascent Soul, never meant to have your own consciousness. Erasing your self-awareness isn’t something you should complain about. If you must blame something, blame your very existence,” Han Li replied coldly, brows twitching. He then ceased any further futile talk and formed an incantation with both hands. The green silk binding the second Nascent Soul suddenly radiated brightly, and the second Nascent Soul felt darkness fall before its eyes as it truly lost consciousness.
Only then did Han Li’s expression relax. But remembering something, he turned his head and glanced at the nearby child.
The child was obedient and, seeing Han Li’s stern gaze, immediately dissipated without a word, vanishing on the spot.
Han Li nodded, then pointed at the lid of the cauldron in the air.
The object immediately fell down, and as the Heavenvoid Cauldron flashed with green light, it closed back up.
Almost simultaneously, Han Li opened his mouth and expelled a stream of blue mist, which swiftly enveloped the small cauldron. The cauldron then quickly shrank within the mist and was absorbed into his abdomen.
Han Li exhaled lightly, then sat down cross-legged. He reached out casually towards the distant second Nascent Soul.
A tremendous sucking force appeared from nowhere, instantly drawing the Nascent Soul over. It then hovered about a meter away from Han Li.
Han Li then carefully examined the black-green Nascent Soul with his Divine Sense, ensuring that its spiritual sense was far inferior to his own before he relaxed. He closed his eyes and slapped his heavenly spiritual covering.
Instantly, the green light flickered above Han Li’s head, and a blurry Nascent Soul about the size of a few inches silently appeared. This Nascent Soul stood on a green cauldron, held a Green Wooden Ruler in its hands, had a misty white bead circling above its head, and between its brows, there was a faintly visible tuft of black energy. Numerous tiny golden swords circled around its body.
It was indeed Han Li’s primary Nascent Soul, nurtured through hard cultivation for over a hundred years.
The Nascent Soul’s face showed neither joy nor sorrow, simply gazing indifferently at the second Nascent Soul in front of it. A flash of green light from the small cauldron beneath its feet, it slowly flew towards the opposite side.
Upon reaching about a meter from the black-green Nascent Soul, Han Li’s Nascent Soul stopped moving and glanced at the green silk on the opposing Nascent Soul. Suddenly, it lightly stamped on the small cauldron.
At once, the small cauldron hummed, and the green silk on the second Nascent Soul vanished, leaving just the black-green Nascent Soul floating in the air.
Then, the Heavenvoid Cauldron beneath slowly enlarged, and Han Li’s Nascent Soul calmly sat atop it. He threw the Green Wooden Ruler into the air and formed incantations with both hands, murmuring a barely audible spell incantation.
Green light radiated from Han Li’s Nascent Soul, and his eyes slowly closed, but the tuft of black energy between his brows spun and coalesced, transforming into a third pitch-black eye. It shone brilliantly with an eerie light, and with a slight turn, it fixed its gaze on the second Nascent Soul, not moving an inch.
Just then, the incantation from Han Li’s Nascent Soul ceased abruptly, and the black light from the third eye flashed, releasing a swath of black light that struck the opposing Nascent Soul.
Suddenly, the black-green Nascent Soul’s body shuddered, and it opened its eyes, but its pupils were empty, as if it had lost all sanity.
And at that moment, Han Li’s tightly closed eyes also snapped open, a flash of brilliance in his pupils. From his eyes, two beams of green light shot out, directly into the eyes of the opposite Nascent Soul, as if to forcibly implant something inside the second Nascent Soul.
The second Nascent Soul’s limbs hung weakly, but its body trembled continuously. Its previously expressionless face now showed extreme pain, as if it wanted to scream, but nothing could be voiced.
Han Li’s Nascent Soul, however, remained expressionless, constantly emitting beams of green light from its eyes, oblivious to any abnormalities in the second Nascent Soul…
